 Updates from around the club:

Things we've done so far:

As many of you know our greens are the original greens mix from when the course was built.  In 1999 the greens were re-grassed from Tifdwarf Bermuda to TifEagle Ultra dwarf starting in 1999, however they didn't replace any of the drainage or greens mix, so if you hear me say our greens are 30 years old that is what I am referring to.  I have been told that we have the 2nd oldest set of TifEagle greens in the state preceded only by Olde Florida Golf Club (they have completely rebuilt the course, all new irrigation, bunkers, and new grass wall to wall, but chose to keep the greens). In an effort to prolong the "useful life" of our greens, we have in recent years started to do some pretty extraordinary things. Including deep drill and fill (video below)  twice a year coupled with a process called "dryject" (discussed in a previous blog post) you may have noticed this process from a few weeks ago.

Check out the video below for some of the work performed this week.

In addition, we made a new pine tree bed alongside 26 green. With the loss of pine trees around the entire property over the years, we wanted to the replanting. You may recall the area beside 26 green was full of pepper trees. We had a contractor come out and clear this area on some pepper trees, then we came in and planted "volunteer" saplings. All of these saplings were relocated from alongside the pond bank buffer zones. Also, you may notice a "brown bag" around the saplings. These are called gator bags and these are drip irrigation devices.
