Birdbox Update:
Hello everyone, for those of you who do not know we have birdhouses spread throughout the course. Native Bird Box is our outside vendor that has made this happen for our golf course. He has just reported we have a total of five birds nesting in our birdhouses. There are two Wood Ducks. One duck has 14 eggs and one duck has 11 eggs. We have two Northern Screech Owls on the property and we were able to see that one owl had 4 eggs. We were unable to count the eggs of the other owl. We also have one Tufted Titmouse that was nesting in the birdhouse. If you look closely in the pictures she appears a bit blurry, this was due to her protecting her eggs which meant we were unable to count the number of eggs. If you look closely at the picture of the Tufted Titmouse, you can see pieces of snakeskin throughout her nesting area. The Tufted Titmouse uses the snakeskin in her nest to keep the predators away! How cool is that! Finally, we had three of our birdhouses occupied with flying squirrels.
