JANUARY, 2025 Update

 

Dear Club Members,

 

As we navigate the challenges of winter, I want to take a moment to update you on the current condition of our golf course and the steps we are taking to ensure its health and playability.

 

**The Good:** I am pleased to report that we have good density on the greens, and their overall condition has been quite favorable this year. Despite the lack of rainfall (until recently) and the cold temperatures, we have managed to maintain a quality playing surface.

 

**The Bad:** However, we are facing some concerns with bare and thin spots on the tees, fairways, and rough areas. While we are implementing various strategies to address these issues, the current soil temperatures, which are in the low 50s, are limiting our ability to achieve significant growth.

 **The Ugly:** Winter has presented its fair share of challenges, especially following three major storms and the worst drought this area has experienced in many years. As a result, the course is not in the condition we would like it to be, and I want to acknowledge this shortfall.

 

Rest assured, we are doing everything possible to promote the health and density of the turf. We are utilizing black sand to raise canopy temperatures, compost to enhance nutrient and moisture retention, and liquid nutrients to support growth. However, under these cooler conditions, achieving the desired grass quality and color remains a daunting task.

I appreciate your understanding and support during these trying times. We are committed to working diligently to ensure that when warmer temperatures arrive, our course will have the best opportunity for recovery.

Hello everyone!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates regarding our irrigation installation project! We are nearly finished with the installation of the irrigation system for holes 19 through 27, and I’m happy to report that holes 1 through 8 have already been completed. As you read this, our contractor is diligently working on hole number 9.

Once the work on hole 9 is wrapped up, the team will move on to hole number 18 and then work backward through holes 17, 16, 15, and so on, all the way to hole number 10. This is where our new pump station is set to be installed, hopefully by mid-October. 

We are incredibly pleased with the progress being made and the quality of work from our contractor. Their dedication and professionalism have exceeded our expectations, and we couldn’t be happier with how things are unfolding.

Irrigation Update

I hope this update finds you well. I am pleased to inform you that the irrigation project at the course is progressing smoothly. As of today, June 26, 2024, the contractor is expected to finish the work on the back nine (holes 19 through 27) by the end of business. Subsequently, they will commence the installation on the front nine (holes 1-10). 

While we are making excellent progress, it is necessary for us to temporarily close the driving range and the back nine early next week (Monday & Tuesday). This closure will allow us to carefully lay the 8-inch mainline, which will connect the back nine (19-27) and the driving range to the front nine (1-9). We anticipate that this closure will last for a day or two, ensuring minimal disruption to your golfing experience. 

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured that this temporary closure is crucial for the success of the irrigation project. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation during this period. 

We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project, and we are confident that the end result will greatly enhance the overall golfing experience at our course. Thank you for your support and patience as we work towards creating an exceptional playing environment for all our members and guest.
