2024 Cultural Practice Update & Information

Mowing patterns "Burning In" the stripes

Hole # 19 fairway mowing

During winter months we "burn in" the mowing pattern stripes on the fairways.  We do this during the slow growth times for our warm season Bermudagrass.  This means we usually start in September and wrap it up around mid-April depending on the weather. It serves a couple important purposes. It enhances the aesthetic appeal of the golf course, creating a visually stunning appearance that golfers like and appreciate. The vibrant contrast between the dark and light stripes adds a touch of style and helps to better define the fairways from the rough. In the coming days/weeks we will start to change these mowing patterns as part of our normal cultural practices and this will cause some scalping and brown areas.  Do not be alarmed, this is to be expected and is part of our normal seasonal routines.
