Updates from around the club:
Like the late, great Yogi Berra once said "Its like deja vu all over again!"
WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT IRRIGATION FOR OVER 4 DAYS! THIS INCLUDES TENNIS (as they are connected to the golf course system).
On Monday evening we discovered a 12" mainline leak near the 10th tee, a mere 25' from the last mainline break we had just 2 weeks ago!!! A 12"x12"x6" "T"fitting failed (manufactured by a company named Pierce if you can imagine the irony of that!!!). Pierce fittings are used throughout our course and are one of the reasons we have so many failures. This company declared bankruptcy years ago (likely due to poor quality) and this is what we are left with. This fitting much like the last one was buried under 5' of soil and encapsulated in over 2 yards of concrete!!! As you can see from the pictures below this was a major undertaking! We had help from our irrigation contractor completing this repair (Leibold Irrigation) and we are very grateful for their help. We are very fortunate to have such a good working relationship with our contractor as they were able to dispatch a team to jump on this repair quickly.
Below you will find a few pictures of the ongoing repair. We hope to have it finished and the system back up and running by Friday evening.
PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL HAVE HOT SPOTS AND WEAK AREAS POPPING UP ON EVERY SURFACE, GREENS TEES, FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH.
Rest assured we will do all we can to minimize the impacts to turf quality. However we are in a bit of a bind as the irrigation pond we pull our water from is low and we are heading into the dry season. Please be sure to check in for more details and updates about the road ahead.
